Battle Force

Oddfellows was asked by Nike to create a modular collection of animated content for Battle Force, a global event where hoops, art, music, and dance all come together. Our intention was to create a system that could express the event’s brand from web films to environmental animation to social content.

Our direction was to “expose the process”, to showcase what the act of “making” looks like. We took a mixed-media approach, blending analog and digital tools to reveal different aspects of the creative process.

Below is a montage of the shots I had the opportunity to create for the project, some of which made it into the final film cut. It was a rare and fun opportunity to dip into some practical handicraft using razor blades, transparency paper, and a flatbed scanner, breaking away from the digital tools I use everyday. Everything shown was animated and composited in After Effects.
